Sydney Royal Easter Show, 2004 - Results

The absolute star of the Show was Marena Windflower.  Firstly she won her class, then the Champion ASP Mare and went on to be Supreme Australian Saddle Pony.  On Wednesday 14th April she went against all the other Supremes of their pony breeds and was sashed The Best Exhibit of the Pony Breeds.

A wonderful conclusion to this successful pony's career as she retires to stud, it was a fitting conclusion to her show career.

Windflower was Supreme Champion Riding Pony as a yearling at her first showing at Sydney Royal and has won a total of 5 Supremes at Sydney Royal during her career.

Shifting, our Thoroughbred stallion,  was 1st & Champion ANSA Stallion.

Marena Cruising, Shifting's first progeny to show, was third in the Thoroughbred Yearling Colt led by Warren  Barlow.

What a Memory, led by Di Firth, was fifth in the TB mare class and Shifting was third in the Stallion class. Previously he has been Champion twice and Reserve there last year.

All three handlers of these horses won the Best Dressed Handler Awards. Congratulations Di, Warren and Lindy.

Marena Memories, now owned by the Evans family of Robertson, was Reserve Champion ANSA mare.

The Evans family had a marvellous Sydney Royal Show, winning, with their galloway mare Thompson's Destiny, 1st in Show Hunter 14.2 - 15.0 hands and the Champion Show Hunter 14.0 - 15.0 hands with a host of placings in other classes too.

Congratulations to the Anderson family who won 1st in ASH Mare, Champion ASH mare and then Supreme Champion ASH with Dust and Dreams - pictured at right.  Shown by daughter Dana, this young mare, obviously has a big career ahead of her.

Marena Skylights is also retiring to stud.  She won 1st in her Open Riding Pony class for the fourth time in five years and 1st in ASP and 3rd in APSB classes.  This superb pony has had a fabulous career with many Champions both Led & Ridden.  She was Supreme Champion at Sydney Royal 2 years ago and has been Supreme ASP 5 out of 6 years.

Ben Maytom - Second in his Rider class and 2nd in the turnout, Jodi Maytom - Fourth in her Rider class, Sarah McMillan - Second in Turnout, 4th in Junior Judges Hack Class, Bugsy Darlington - 3rd Junior Judges Hack Class and 3rd in Show Hunter, Kath Jones' ever consistent mare, Vashti, was two 3rds in ANSA classes, two 4ths the in Warmbloods.

In summary, our team of horses and riders won 6 Champions, 3 Supreme Champions and 35 ribbons.

We had a marvellous Show and we wish to extend our thanks to all our clients, pupils, riders and helpers - Kristie Nichols, Kier Ferrie, Jarrod Ashbrook, Gary, Will & Andrea Evans, Kath Jones, Alex Keith & Lee Stevens.

Lee Stevens has since left us - We wish her luck on her chosen path.

Luke, aged 9 months added another 'dement ion' to showing at the Royal!  But he was happy and good and enjoyed all the activity around his playpen.  We would like to thank those who helped Bruce & I care for him whilst his mother, Lindy, rode horses.

BATHURST ROYAL   The Evans Family saddled up again straight after Sydney and was off to Bathurst. Nell won 1st in ASH Mare and 2nd in the ASH Hack. In her riding class Nell was second to Ashley Roberts who went on to be Champion Girl Rider. We wish to congratulate Ashley on her success.
