Hasn’t the weather been sensational?
The first crop of our
foals from the new Kolbeach stallions are heading towards 2 years of age –
Marena Royal Rose, Marena Royal Lass, Marena Royal Ballet and Marena Sunrise are
all fillies from our best female families.
Marena Royal Rose is
a filly from Marena Windflower – winner of 5 Supreme Champions at Sydney Royal.
We will break these youngsters in next year.
Also, as winter is
approaching, we are about to wean the 2012 foals: –
Marena King of Hearts,
a colt from Marena Heartbeat by Kolbeach Royal Print that we have decided to
grow as a future sire.
Marena Royal Myth, a liver chestnut
gelding from Kolbeach Fantasia.
Marena Amber Brave, a gelding,
purchased at foot with Marena Amber Whispers at our Clearance Auction in
December 2012 by Kristie and Sam
for their son Harry.
Marena Royal Star, a gelding from
Gabi Hollows and daughter Emma’s mare Marena Starflower who is one of
only 2 mares we have left by the mighty
Sun Puff (imp).
home for a break; she and long time partner Bonnie are getting married before
they return to America. We are looking forward to attending this happy event.
It is such a big year
for special occasions
Lots of birthdays and
other big events. Bruce and I turned 80,
Gabi Hollows turned 60 and Emma is
Bruce, Lindy and I
attended well know horse woman Judy Amory’s 90th Birthday, the
pouring rain on that day did not dampen anyone’s enthusiasm. Then the next day,
luckily, in brilliant sunshine we attended the wedding of Kath Peterson and
Peter Flynn in their beautiful garden at Coronation Park.
Earlier in the year we
went to see the marvellous production of the stage play The War Horse and this
month we are joining a group of our horsey friends to see
Cavalia as a birthday surprise.
there have been some sad occasions too; we attended 4 funerals of friends in
four week period –
former pupil Steven Kadar,
the Fire fighter killed in Victoria, Bryson Bensley, a long time friend
from Goulburn, Col Westbrook from Cessnock Horse Transport and Don
Tanner the latest, our friend and horse Chiropractor from
The New “All Stars”
Congratulations to Les and
Lisa Starkey who bought the first of our new saddles that have just been
released for their daughter Ella.
This saddle is an exciting
project for us as it has always been difficult to buy a suitable saddle for
small ponies and small children.
Small ponies have usually
been swamped with saddles too big for them which spoils the overall picture, is
no help to a small rider’s position in the saddle and puts undue pressure on the
pony’s back if ridden by a larger rider.
We have not forgotten the
larger riders need saddles to help them achieve the correct position too and
larger horses as well as ponies like comfort so we have had our saddles made in
all sizes that sell at an affordable price.
Having taught riding all
my life it has become apparent that the correct size and the position the saddle
enables the rider to achieve, along with the horse’s comfort, is paramount.
This is a handmade,
boutique saddle especially designed to achieve these aims.
News of our Pupils
Paris Lehmann - Many years ago a
Sydney couple, Malcolm and Alice Lehmann, answered one of our ads to buy a horse
for their daughter Amanda. The upshot of that meeting was that Marena Calypso
found a loving home and we found some lifelong friends. Now we have had another
phone call from Alice, her son Ben and wife Anna want a pony for his daughter
Paris is a very keen rider
who is longing for a horse. She has been here and found her dream in the
dappled grey mare Marena Sky Dance. The family lives in Sydney and have a farm
in the Blue Mountains where they spend the weekends. Paris is having some
lessons here and will attend the Three Day Schools, she is an enthusiastic pupil
with a great attitude.
Jessie Cooper who bought Marena Karrella attends lessons here and is having a great time as she gets to know her
new pony. At her first show Jessie won first in the Novice Girl Rider at
Gosford Show in May. She is a member of Tall Timbers Pony Club and is doing
well there too.
The Talbot Family
will be looking for a new horse as the lovely black pony Blandford Midnight
Edition has been sold; his is on his way to Kununurra where the show world is
really taking off. He has been an excellent pony for Alexa and she will be sad
to see him go but it is time she moved onto a bigger horse.
has been showing the mare Geisha that she and Sarah Hooke bought at our Auction
in December 2012 with much success. Geisha is already showing that she has what it
takes in the show ring.
